CSET: Science

CSET: Science consists of 2 subtests:

            - Subtest I (test code 215)
- Subtest II (test codes 217–220)
                    - Life Sciences (test code 217)
- Chemistry (test code 218)
- Earth and Space Sciences (test code 219)
- Physics (test code 220)
Subtest I covers general science content while Subtest II covers the candidate's area of concentration. A credential in this subject matter area authorizes teaching general and integrated science and the area of concentration. Science: Biological Sciences is the credential area for Life Sciences, and Science: Geosciences is the credential area for Earth and Space Sciences.
You may register to take any one subtest or Subtests I and II in a single test session.

                        Computer-based test (CBT) only:
- Subtest I: 100 multiple-choice questions and 4 constructed-response questions
- Subtest II: 50 multiple-choice questions and 3 constructed-response questions

An on-screen scientific calculator is provided to examinees for CSET Science.

A periodic table is provided to examinees taking Subtest I (215) and Subtest II Chemistry (218). A copy of the periodic table is available in the Sample Questions for each of these subtests.

A reference sheet containing constants, trigonometric functions, formulas, and notes is provided to examinees taking Subtest II Physics (220). A copy of these reference materials is available in the Sample Questions for this subtest.

Subtests I and II include one or more assignments that allow you to handwrite and scan responses.

subtest at a time. Subtests are individually timed and are administered in consecutive order
beginning with Subtest 1. After you complete a subtest, you will not be able to return to a subtest.
